We have grown our own pumpkin patch for the past 4 years now. It has been really fun come Halloween. We have always gotten a lot of pumpkins too. Last night for Family Home Evening, we decided to carve one. Yes, only one. Ashton, AJ, and Jeff carved, while Mom and Aryk painted one.

Here are all the pumpkins that came from our garden. This year was a low number compared to past years. And some started so late, they didn't even get to turn orange. But I think they look really cool! While working on the pumpkins we read a story from the Friend about "Happy Helpers". And talked about how when we serve others the spirit shines for others to see, just like a jack-o-lantern on Halloween. Then we gave the boys Indiana Jones flashlights to use as their "service lights". I know, I was really reaching to tie all this fun stuff into a lesson that they would learn from. Actually, I was really surprised at their great response to having a service light to remind them to do service for others.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

That is such a GREAT idea! it looks like a lot of fun too. I am impressed with all of the pumpkins that you are growing....way to go!
Thats great! We want to grow pumpkins too, but got our landscaping/gardeing everything done too late this year...so hopefully next year. You guys look great! Your little one is so adorable!!
Maybe the ground in Boise is better, but here in Pocatello, our pumpkin patch grew amazing leaves and vines. We did get 2 total pumpkins, one a 2 inch pumpkin and the other a little bigger and green because we had to pick it before it froze. I guess I need to learn some gardening lessons. Cute pumpkins!
