Puppies!

Early on Wednesday March 3, Elektra went into labor. This is her second litter, and she did GREAT!! I love being in the whelping box to help her. Especially since she does most of the work, and I get to hold the tiny puppies.

Elektra in labor.

We let the boys stay home from school, so that they could be part of it. They went to school, just before lunch time. Ashton is a GREAT helper. He gets in there and helps clean them up, and keep them warm.
Elektra delivered 7 healthy puppies. 2 Males and 5 Females. Here are the puppies all curled up with each other, just after the last one was born.

Elektra nursing her puppies. She was a GREAT mother! And the puppies are so sweet. It is nice experiencing the miracle of birth, when you aren't the one in pain! It really was amazing.
All the puppies have been sold (yes, it took me this long to post it!). They all went home between 7 & 9 weeks.

Chocolate Puppies

Elektra had a litter of puppies (last week). This was quite the exciting day. It was nice to enjoy the miracle of life, not as the one in labor. She had 7 girls! What are the odds? I find this especially ironic, having all boys. She is healthy, a little disobedient, but healthy. And the puppies are doing great too! The puppies are adorable. The boys want to keep them, of course, but we are planning to find each one a home. We have started a page Chocolate Labradors for people interested in buying/ adopting one of our Chocolate Labrador puppies. Feel free to look at the page and pass on the link.If you know anyone who is interested in a family pet, please refer them. I am still setting it up, but I hope that it will also be very informative, for those with questions.

Our New Camera

So, while I was in Utah, Jeff found a REALLY good deal on a new digital SLR. We have thought about getting one for a while. We were just waiting for the right deal. Now we can get some good sport shots! No more missed touchdown passes! YEAH!! Here are some practice photos we have taken over the week. I LOVE this new camera. It feels weird going back to an SLR after having the point & shoot for 5 years. I forgot how many more, fun, creative things we can do! You can look forward to MORE and better pics from us! YEAH! We have taken A LOT of photos with our new camera. We are so excited. I tried to combine the groups into collages. I hope you don't mind looking at all these (by-the-way- this isn't all of them, just most of them!).
Aryk, of course, is in most of the pics, so I tried to do a collage of each boy.

Aryk's Adventures

This crawling thing is so fun for Aryk. He escapes every chance he gets! When we are trying to get him dressed... he turns over and crawls away as fast as he can. When he thinks no one is paying attention he goes over to the dog's crates and lets them out! He loves to play with the dogs!

He enjoys playing in the big brother's bedroom with all their toys, which are so conveniently on the floor most of the time!

Another of his favorite places to play is in the bottom drawer of the kitchen. We store the boys plastic cups and bowls in this drawer. He LOVES to play in this drawer! He recently learned how to open the drawer under the oven. I store pot lids there. He hasn't found the loud banging noise to be fun, thank goodness. He always finds something to get into.

Let it SNOW!

Last weekend it snowed, and snowed some more. Here are the boys shoveling the walks in the snow. This isn't the first snow fall we've had, but it's the first that has lasted longer than 24 hours! And the first we bothered to take pictures of!

Catch that dog!

The boys were playing fetch with the dogs, and had a hard time getting the balls from them. Here are the boys chasing and wrestling with Elektra and Fudge trying to get the balls, and creating a whole new game that they all enjoyed!
